A Dear Friend Passes - Remember Gary Goff

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our friend Gary Goff.  Many of you will remember Gary from our canvassing campaigns in 2004 and Steve Sinton's campaign in 2006.  You may have met him at the North Fulton Democrats meetings, and you may remember him from last year's For the People rally in Gainesville.  He was gregarious, loved to talk politics, and had a hearty laugh.

  







Gary (pictured in the middle) was a gentle giant -- well over six feet tall, grand in stature, and great of heart.  He was practically a fixture at the Democratic Party of Georgia office the past several weeks, calling hundreds of voters to Get Out The Vote in the 10th Congressional District special election.  Between canvassing in North Fulton, working on Steve Sinton's campaign, and making GOTV calls for the State Party, he single-handedly influenced thousands of voters.  He was taking classes at Clayton State University, working toward his Bachelor of Applied Technology (Science) Degree, and he was very proud that he had just been elected to the governing Board at his apartment co-op in Atlanta.  In addition, we learned that Gary had been Santa Claus at the Ritz for many, many years.

Gary passed away suddenly on Monday afternoon, June 25th, from apparent cardiac arrest.  He was 57.  We are trying to notify family and friends.  If you knew Gary and would like to keep in touch with others who loved this sweet man, please call Anne at 404-303-9142, ext.2.
